About Nan Williams

Having recently lived in Europe for a period of eight years, I used the time to focus on learning about art, in both formal and informal settings, with a focus increasingly on the 20th century and the major abstract movements. The abstraction theme provided an opportunity to experiment with techniques such as large scale monoprinting, which free the fibre artist to work in a quick and spontaneous manner similar to that of the abstract expressionists of the mid-20th century. The work of Pollack and Twombly has been particularly influential.
