Hot Rocks

Hot Rocks

40" x 58" ©2004

This piece was inspired by the magnificent Rockies on a hot summer day, with a lake lying serenely at their base. The distant trees are hardly visible except for the fringe along the top, whereas the closer trees can be viewed in many vibrant colours, the rocks echoing all of those hues and more. The mountains are very warm for such a short time, I wanted to celebrate that season by interpreting it in fibre. The lake reflects the shapes of the mountains but in a cool, soothing way, inviting the passerby in for a dip
