Sunset Lewisia is a tribute to Lewis and Clark, the legendary explorers of the Pacific Northwest. In Lewis's 1806 journal he wrote "I found several other uncommon plant specemines of which I preserved". The Lewisia, a beautiful native succulent, was thus added to his catalogue of flora and fauna. This quilt is a fusion of many of the recent hybrid colours, ranging from lemon yellow through to maraschino cherry red.
Techniques: machine pieced commercial and hand-dyed cottons; machine quilted
