This artwork is inspired by the fabric that I paint in my backyard each summer. I actually do hang it on a clothesline to dry as part of my process. For me the clothesline is an icon of my commitment to environmental responsibility. Embedded in this work are symbols: the maple leaf, a symbol of Canada; the blue sky, a symbol of Alberta; the elm leaves, a symbol of Edmonton. My city has the largest urban elm forest in North America. Where I live is a part of who I have become as an artist.
